Some time ago, I was asked to make a little giraffe rattle as a gift for a baby, and I dusted off a pattern I had written down in a notebook many years ago, and here I am sharing it with you:
Materials:
- Cotton Yarn: Yellow, dark brown and beige.
- 3mm crochet hook
- Fiberfill
- Scissors
- Stitch Marker
- Tapestry Needle
- Party rattle (I’m Chilean and in my country the original word means something else hahahah). If you can’t find one, you can use any plastic container with beads or little bells inside.
Abbreviations:
sc: single crochet
inc: increase
dec: decrease
( )x number: repeat x times
(number): stitches at the end of the round

Place the eyes (OPTIONAL) between rounds 11 and 12, with 8 visible stitches of separation. If you want the eyes to be embroidered, embroider them at the same height once the giraffe is finished (see Finishing).

Place the rattle inside the crochet work; remember to put cotton between the crochet and the rattle so it takes shape. It's like putting insulation in the walls.

Cut a long strand for sewing, stuff while sewing

Sew the parts onto the giraffe: If you chose to embroider the eyes, place them at the height of rounds 11 and 12, using the images as a guide.
Sew the muzzle onto the face between the eyes, just like in the image.
Sew the horns to the sides of the magic ring, and next to them, sew the flattened ears.
